🏍 Your first group motorcycle ride: how to ride without stress

Riding in a group is different from riding alone. It isn't hard, but it helps to know in advance a few rules that almost all groups follow.

Before you set off

Who's who in the line

The leader rides in front, knows the way and sets the pace. The sweep rider rides last and stops with anyone who has a problem. Between them, everyone keeps the place they had at the start.

Staggered formation

On straight roads, the motorcycles ride in a zigzag: one on the left side of the lane, the next on the right side. That way everyone has room to brake and can see the road ahead. In bends, in towns and villages and on narrow roads, the group switches to single file, one behind the other.

Distance and pace

If you fall behind

Don't push to catch up with the group. Carry on along the announced route: the others wait for you at the next regroup point. If you have to stop, stop somewhere safe. The sweep rider stops with you.

How Bikbik helps

In Bikbik the ride has its meeting point, route and pace written in advance. On the road you see each other on the map, so you know where the group is even if you've fallen behind. The “I have a problem” button alerts the whole group with one touch.

Every group has its own rules. What's written here is a starting point; at the briefing, what the organiser says is what counts.
