Romania's highest road: at Urdele Pass it reaches 2,145 m. It links Oltenia to Transylvania over the Parâng Mountains, with long stretches above the forest and wide bends.

Transalpina as a group

Fill up before the climb: petrol stations are rare in the mountains.
Up in the mountains it's much colder than in the valley: take an extra layer and spare gloves.
Agree on the regroup points before setting off, not on the road.
Keep your distance and ride staggered in the lane, not side by side.
Don't stop the group in bends or in a tunnel; stop only where there's room for all the motorcycles.
