🌄 TransBucegi by motorcycle (DJ713)

A short road that climbs quickly, from the valley near Sinaia up onto the Bucegi Plateau, close to the Piatra Arsă chalet. Good to combine with the Prahova Valley in a single day.

Highest point: close to 2,000 m

Where to stop

Bucegi Plateau — wide views and strong wind: hold the handlebars firmly
Piatra Arsă chalet — about 1 km from the end of the tarmac; Babele is about 4 km further, on foot only
Sinaia — fuel and a break on the way down

TransBucegi as a group

Fill up before the climb: petrol stations are rare in the mountains.
Up in the mountains it's much colder than in the valley: take an extra layer and spare gloves.
Agree on the regroup points before setting off, not on the road.
Keep your distance and ride staggered in the lane, not side by side.
Don't stop the group in bends or in a tunnel; stop only where there's room for all the motorcycles.
