🏞 Prahova Valley by motorcycle (DN1)

The classic one-day ride for riders from Bucharest and Ploiești. The road climbs on DN1 between the Bucegi and Baiului mountains, through the resorts in the valley, and can be linked with the TransBucegi or Brașov.

Where to stop

Sinaia — Peleș Castle and a coffee break
Bușteni — the view of the Caraiman massif
Predeal — the top end of the valley; from here you carry on to Brașov or turn back

DN1 is the main road to Brașov and can be busy, especially on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. For a quiet ride, set off early in the morning.

Prahova Valley as a group

Fill up before the climb: petrol stations are rare in the mountains.
Up in the mountains it's much colder than in the valley: take an extra layer and spare gloves.
Agree on the regroup points before setting off, not on the road.
Keep your distance and ride staggered in the lane, not side by side.
Don't stop the group in bends or in a tunnel; stop only where there's room for all the motorcycles.
